Helping you design success!
I am a consultant, licensed therapist, and author, with decades of experience working in nonprofits, especially those aiming to end violence. I began as a domestic violence victim advocate, and this led me to other direct service, prevention, and leadership positions, particularly in the sexual violence field. I served as executive director of the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault for 12 years, where I developed a diverse team of professionals committed to addressing racism and other forms of oppression as a necessary strategy for ending sexual violence. I also served as associate director of the state sexual assault coalition in Connecticut, where I worked for 10 years, strengthening statewide prevention efforts and establishing the coalition as an expert on protecting victims' privacy. In my book, Drowning in Hats: How to Thrive in the Madcap Business of Nonprofit Leadership, a nonprofit survival guide released in April 2023, I share some of the lessons learned during my career. I supplement the material in my book by writing a blog called Loving Nonprofit Leadership and by providing consulting services.
My blog covers topics to help nonprofits do their best work
